A VR Runner Game that Actually Makes You Run

Hot Runback is a VR runner game with a focus on fitness. In other words, you would not be sitting back and watching your virtual character do all the running. You would actually be running with your VR character.

Real Running

Unlike other runner games, Hot Runback actually puts you on the trails and expects you to physically run to save or get your character past its onscreen troubles. You would have a VR headset on while running. You will be running to evade obstacles, and throwing weapons at almost everything that meets your eye. At times, that could be a policeman or a neighbor’s car. Your weapons would be fairly unique. You could throw footballs, and also fresh fish and hotdogs. Football players would be chasing you throughout the game, which should be motivation enough to keep running. By the way, the graphics are stylish and don’t have any flat textures or ugly cubes.

Controls

With running majorly accounting as your gaming control, there would not be any sticks and buttons to maneuver or hold. You would just have to hold on to your HTC Vive controllers and continue running. The running would be non-stop, and the more you run, the more coins you’d accumulate. At the end of the game, you get to know your scores and also the calories burnt and distance covered. If you’re out of shape and keen on getting your body beach vacation-ready, then this game would be a fun way to achieve that goal.

PROS

  • Unique blend of VR and cardio
  • Stylish graphics

CONS

  • Running in place doesn’t beat real running
  • Unfit people might find the game quite taxing
